Canceled Stanislaus County Swiss Club
Grand Celebration 100 years
2020 is a special year for the Stanislaus County Swiss Club, as it marks our 100th anniversary. During the coming year, we will be hosting special events to commemorate this historic milestone. See the calendar on the back page. The grand event will be held Labor Day weekend Sunday, September 6th, 2020. If you’re at all interested in Switzerland and your Swiss heritage, this event will be something you won’t want to miss. The idea of forming a Swiss Club started in a wine cellar with Swiss immigrants. They formed the club in 1920 and the mission statement at that time was to hold a Swiss National Day celebration on August 1st, marking Switzerland’s federal charter of 1291. The Swiss picnic as it is known has been held on Sunday, Labor Day weekend for all these years. Legend or rumor has the first picnic held at a train loading ramp somewhere near the banks of the San Joaquin River, the longest-running south to the north river in the central valley of California. We look forward to our 100year celebration. If you have anything to add to our celebration, please contact Ed Sciarini. 209-5453603 The motto of the Stanislaus County Swiss Club over the years has been, Uno-Per-Tutti, and Tutti -Per Uno One for All, and All for one.
